Human Code HS 9606 did not begin as a brand idea. It began in the middle of making. I was painting a bespoke jacket for I AM HERE 2 play, deep in flow, hands in paint, while listening to a podcast about artificial intelligence and how quickly it is absorbing data, work, creativity, decisions and even emotional space. As I painted, my thoughts travelled forward, into a future of human looking machines, optimisation, automation and engineered perfection, where the line between human and artificial becomes increasingly blurred. A question landed, how will we recognise each other, how will we know who is human? Then another thought followed. If everything has a code, systems, products, species, do we have one too? We do. omo sapiens, In biology, humans are identified by a scientific taxonomy code, Homo sapiens, HS-9606, a real biological marker. Standing there, painting and listening to conversations about the future of intelligence, Human Code was born. Not as technology, but as a reminder, a way to protect and signal what cannot be automated, emotion, creativity, imperfection, presence and connection. Human Code exists to make humanity visible again, in a world learning how to simulate it.
